Marks

Makers marks are an important way to date, authenticate, and identify old spurs. In general, the majority of old spurs will not have any maker mark at all, however some will and having a maker’s mark always adds to the value because we can know more of its history with surety.

Most maker’s marks are stamped into the spur either right next to the button where the leather strap attaches, or on the inside of the heel band. Occasionally there are spurs marked on top or below the shank.

Below is an image gallery of makers’ marks, this is not exhaustive and there are marks and makers not listed or shown. If you have spurs please look for maker’s marks and try to send in the best picture you can.
